Welcome to Tayo Mismo!

There are stories that happen every day that rarely get told, even though they are the ones that change lives in small but meaningful ways. Such as a yaya who distributed food to tricycle drivers during the peak of an energy crisis, or a group of surfers who teach kids in their community how to surf while also caring for their surroundings.

These moments are often simple, unplanned, and powerful. They do not always make noise, but they stay with people long after they happen.

Tayo Mismo began with the need to make space for stories like these, the kind that show how people choose to show up for one another in ways that are immediate, personal, and real.

We are an online publication that shares stories of people and communities working together to create meaningful change. We look at everyday actions, efforts that start small but grow through the people who take part in them, and the ways these actions connect individuals to something larger than themselves.

The name Tayo Mismo carries what we believe in. “Tayo” speaks of togetherness, the idea that change is never carried alone and is always built through people moving with one another. “Mismo” speaks of presence and responsibility, the reminder that change is not something far away or delayed, but something that begins with us, right where we are.

What we publish is meant to continue beyond the page. A story may lead someone to get involved in a local effort, support a cause, or begin something of their own. Sometimes it may simply make people notice what has been happening around them all along.

And that, in itself, is already something.

Because these stories do not really end when they are read. They continue in what people choose to do next, and in how they choose to take part in what is already unfolding.

And maybe that is when the good news happens, when we take that first step and choose to make things happen ourselves, without waiting for anyone else to lead the way, when we take initiative to do good, to create change, and to show up with urgency, commitment, and dedication.
