Everyday data finds new purpose, reaching 4 billion hearts along the way

Everyday mobile data use rarely feels like it goes beyond the screen. A quick scroll, a video call, a few messages sent in between errands. But for thousands of Globe Prepaid users, those small moments have been adding up to something larger—support that now stretches across communities in the Philippines.

Through GoGIVE, a feature inside the GlobeOne app, users generate “hearts” as they use mobile data. These hearts are pooled and later converted into connectivity support for partner organizations working on education, animal welfare, disaster response, and other community programs.

That participation has reached a significant scale. GoGIVE users have already generated over 4 billion hearts—well beyond the original 840 million target set for partner causes. Behind the number is steady, repeated engagement from users who may not always see the immediate outcome of their activity, but whose daily usage continues to feed into it.

Turning connection into action

On the ground, the support takes different forms depending on the needs of each group.

For the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), improved connectivity has helped streamline online pet adoption, support virtual veterinary consultations, and strengthen coordination during rescue operations, especially in emergency situations when communication lines become critical.

The Philippine Eagle Foundation has used the same support to extend its conservation work beyond field sites. Indigenous community partners now have access to online training sessions and learning modules, while also being able to report threats to wildlife more quickly as they happen.

In communities working with Project PEARLS, connectivity has opened up skills training for women, ranging from macramé and crochet to candle making, delivered through virtual sessions. Youth scholars, meanwhile, receive support through online tools for career guidance and leadership development.

World Vision Philippines has also used the assistance to strengthen child protection efforts in partner schools in Laurel, Batangas. With more stable access, schools are better equipped to coordinate safety programs, manage referrals, and support online safety education for students.

Beyond long-term programs, GoGIVE has also been tapped during emergencies, helping channel aid through partners such as Ayala Foundation, Rise Against Hunger Philippines, Pawssion Project, and the Philippine Eagle Foundation during times of disaster.
