llaollao turned 10 in the Philippines this month, growing from two stores in 2016 to 110 locations nationwide. To mark the milestone, the frozen yogurt chain is asking customers to hand back something small but familiar—their iconic green spoons.
The initiative, called Spoon to School, works through collection bins at participating branches. Customers return their clean spoons to be processed and repurposed into recycled materials. The thousands of spoons surrendered will become sturdy, durable chairs for local classrooms.

West Crame Elementary School in San Juan City will be the first to receive them, under the anniversary line “It started with one spoon. It built a seat for the future.”
The spoon is designed to be reusable in the first place, so llaollao frames the initiative as two options. You can keep reusing yours, or you can return it so the material can take on a new purpose.
The anniversary promos were built on that same idea. From October 10 to 19, llaollao ran one offer per day, and surrendering a spoon at select branches unlocked most of them. Toppings were only ₱10 from October 11 to 17, tubs were upsized for free on October 18, and a small tub was only ₱100 on October 19.

The promos may have ended on October 19, but Spoon to School didn’t. No end date has been announced for the collection, and llaollao says it plans to work with the Department of Education to identify more schools for future batches, so the project is meant to continue beyond the first turnover. It hasn’t published a target either, so how many chairs this adds up to will depend on how many spoons customers bring back.
If you’re headed to llaollao anyway, give your spoon a quick rinse, keep it for the drop-off, and ask the branch where its collection bin is. Something small you’d normally throw away can become a seat for a student in a public school classroom.
