A partnership built around protecting communities has taken on another purpose as security agencies join efforts to help create better learning spaces for Filipino students.
Six accredited security manpower agencies of Security Bank Corporation recently provided cash and in-kind donations to Security Bank Foundation Inc. (SBFI), supporting its Bayanihan Para sa Silid-Aralan campaign that helps fund classroom construction projects in public schools.
The contribution comes at a time when many Filipino learners continue to face challenges brought by limited and deteriorating school facilities. The country still needs more than 144,000 classrooms, making support from different sectors important in helping schools provide safer and more conducive environments for students.
Since 2011, SBFI’s Build a School, Build a Nation Program has been working to address classroom needs by constructing two-storey school buildings for public schools across the country. This year, the Foundation is building 60 classrooms for eight public schools nationwide, with support from partners helping cover construction costs amid rising expenses.
The collaboration between the Foundation and security agencies was made possible through the efforts of Gen. Billy Beltran, Chief Security Officer, and Col. Ferjen Torred, Special Operations Head of Security Bank Corporation’s Security and Safety Division.
“As a Security Banker and someone who works closely with our security agency partners, I strongly believe in Security Bank Foundation’s advocacy for education. That’s why I invited our partner agencies to join us in nation-building by supporting the Foundation’s Bayanihan Para sa Silid-Aralan fundraising campaign,” Beltran said.
The participating agencies include Eparwa Security Services Inc., Gallantry Security and Investigation Agency Inc., Magno’s Security & Investigation Services Inc., Tarsier Security Agency, BOS Security Solutions and Services Inc., and Quiambao Security Specialists Inc.
Their support shows how organizations from different fields can come together to help address community needs beyond their usual roles. Building classrooms requires collective action, and every contribution can help bring more students closer to a better place to learn.
